Chris Boucher grew up in and was educated in Massachusetts, receiving a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts under Richard S. Ellis in 1998. He started at Salem State in September, 2002, serving as Mathematics Department Chair during 2009-2015 and in a variety of administrative leadership roles during 2015-2017 before electing to return to the faculty. He served as Chair again during 2021-2023 and has served as the Faculty Athletic Representative since 2022. Prof. Boucher has taught 21 different undergraduate and 6 different graduate courses, has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and contributed significantly as a consultant to both The Wolfram Demonstrations Project and the early development of the web site Wolfram|Alpha.
