In 1997 Peter earned his BA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with majors in German and psychology. In the same year he began graduate studies at the University of Freiburg in Germany, then transferred to University of Munich in 2000, and in 2006 recieved his MA in Modern German Literature with minors in Germanic linguistics and psychology. After returning to the U.S., Peter studied in the Graduate program at Salem State University, where he took his MS in Mental Health Counseling in 2011.
Peter's research interests focus on biological and physiological psychology, cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, theories of substance abuse and addiction, memory, attention, and constructivist theories of perception. Other interests include second language acquisition and translation of scholarly German texts.
Since 2014 Peter has been teaching in the psychology department at Salem State University. In past years he has taught at Boston University, Suffolk University, the Goethe-Institut Boston, and at the German Saturday School Boston. Additionally, he has taught psychology at Amesbury, Gloucester, and Triton High Schools through the SSU Dual-Enrollment program for accelerated students.
In his free time Peter enjoys freshwater and ocean kayaking, and hiking in the White Mountains with his dear companion, Mariana.
