Allan 'Rocky' Shwedel, a mid-Michigander by birth and a Bostonian by transplant, received his PhD in Education from Indiana University in 1979. He worked in the Boston Public Schools' Office of Research, Assessment and Evaluation for 15 years before coming to Salem State in 2001. With three other faculty members from Salem, he has been taking students to do fieldwork in Liberia for the past four years. Currently he has a Fulbright Specialist grant to work on assessment with faculty and students at a university in Ukraine. In spring 2015 he will be teaching EDU407 Computer Literacy for Educational Professionals and EDU738 Educational Research Across the Curriculum.
