Professor WHITNEY L. WHITE [Whizz] - Scenic and Lighting Designer - has been a professional scenic, lighting and SFX designer since 1972. Whizz, as he is called, is a full Professor and holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Theatre Design and Technology and last school year marked the end of his 35th year designing and teaching at Salem State. The production of Pirates of Penzance this Spring will be his 150th Salem State Theatre Production! His greatest acheivement however is the large number of his former students who are working in the professional theatre, film and television industries all around the country. Professor White is also a guest designer and professor at Wellesley College and has designed for Emerson College, North Shore Music Theatre, University of Texas, Gloucester Stage Co. the Charles Playhouse and many more. Currently professor White is consulting on the design of the new Theatre Building at SSC to scheduled to open in the year 2011.
