Professional Biography

Educational Background

  • Salem State University – B.S Sport & Movement Science – Exercise Science
  • University of Massachusetts Boston – M.S Exercise and Health Sciences – Applied Exercise Physiology

While an undergraduate student at Salem State, Alejandro was President of the SMS Club on campus and helped organize exercise and health events for the university. He also helped publish a research study in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy with his professors called “The Influence of Phototherapy on Recovery from Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage”.

Alejandro has a deep appreciation for exercise along with health and wellness and his goal is to bring that on for the Salem State community.

Prior to joining the staff at Salem State, Alejandro worked in various Physical Therapy clinics as a PT Aide around the North Shore and Cape Cod. Most recently, he worked at Stretch Lab in Swampscott, MA as a Flexologist doing one on one assisted stretching as well as working at F45 Training in Swampscott, MA as a Trainer/Coach.

Certifications: International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) Certified Personal Trainer, (ISSA) Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and (ISSA) Group Exercise Instructor.

Responsibilities

Alejandro joined the Gassett Fitness Center staff in March of 2024 as Program Coordinator for Fitness & Well-being in the Campus Life and Recreation department. In this role, he is responsible for Fitness center staff and group exercise instructors along with fitness & well-being programs. Also responsible for maintenance and upkeep of fitness equipment and risk management procedures.
