Professional Biography

Kristjana Sharra serves as the Assistant Director for International Student Services at the Center for International Education (CIE) where she oversees and advises the international student population throughout their student life cycle on immigration laws related to their F-1 visa from their inquiry at Salem State, to graduation and job placements, and to the time they return to their home country or change to other immigration statuses in the U.S. As the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), main focus is to maintain a complaint campus through the federal Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and according to the rules of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE. Other activities include recruitment of international students for the undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well the American Language and Culture Institute, student applications, employment authorizations and career advise after graduation, international student orientations, and student events on campus to engage international students with the rest of the Salem State community. Kristjana joined SSU in 2011 and enjoys serving and advocating for the international student population and appreciates their cultural contribution on campus. She stays informed with new immigration rules, and is a member of the Massachusetts Council for International Education (MACIE), and National Association of Foreign Student Advisers (NAFSA). Kristjana received her BS in Business Administration and MBA from Salem State University and is native speaker of Albanian and Greek.
