Professional Biography

Michelle Pierce earned a bachelor of arts degree in French from Wellesley College, a master of arts in teaching in foreign language education from the University of Pittsburgh, and a doctor of education degree in literacy, language and cultural studies from Boston University. Dr. Pierce is associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, having previously taught for 15 years and served as chairperson in the Secondary and Higher Education Department. Her research interests and grant projects focus on early college programs and the high school/college transition for under-represented students. Dr. Pierce received a Fulbright scholarship to Chile in 2009 and completed the HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) program for women leaders in higher education in 2011.
